Since Benedict Cumberbatch joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ve been looking forward to seeing him save the day as the superhero-slash-Sorcerer Supreme in “Doctor Strange.” Now, its turns out, he’s getting a jump start on his heroic acts.
The actor stars in a new video, released by Marvel today, announcing the launch of “Marvel Studios: Hero Acts,” a global charitable initiative to raise funds for Save the Children. Cumberbatch, caring man that he is, describes his time shooting “Doctor Strange” in Nepal and other countries, and how he saw children facing “enormous challenges — challenges that no one should ever have to face.”
Cumberbatch encourages fans to participate and explains how: You can snap a photo in your favorite Marvel hero pose, and then upload it to the website MarvelStudiosHeroActs.com and share across social media with the initiatives’ hashtags (#heroacts, #marvelstudios). For every post through the end of the year, Marvel Studios will donate $5 to Save the Children. Kids in need in Nepal, Haiti, and the United States will benefit.
The video also includes some clips from “Doctor Strange,” so check it out below.
